Biography

Rebecca is a Senior Associate at CEA with experience and expertise in environmental program strategy development, grantmaking, and partnership management toward advancing research, technology innovation, and policy in support of global biodiversity and conservation efforts.  

 

Before joining CEA in 2023, Rebecca worked as a senior program officer at the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, where she led its multimillion-dollar ocean health and conservation portfolio and served as a philanthropic advisor. In this role, she developed and managed program strategies and partnerships, and identified and vetted grantmaking opportunities. Rebecca also served as elected chair of the advisory board of the Shark Conservation Fund and was a board member of both Oceans 5 and the Global Fund for Coral Reefs. Prior to this, Rebecca worked in Washington, D.C., as a senior program officer at World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for the Greater Mekong Program, a cross-disciplinary conservation program in Southeast Asia, and as a program associate at WWF for the Global Freshwater Conservation Science Program, focused on developing Freshwater Ecoregions of the World, the first global freshwater biogeographic data and species mapping system. 

 

Rebecca holds a BS in environmental science and biology from the University of Waterloo and an MS in ecology from McGill University.
