Rebecca is an experienced leader and advisor with over 15 years of experience supporting philanthropies and nonprofits to develop and manage environmental programs, grantmaking strategies, and strategic partnerships to advance research, technology innovation, policy, and conservation impact goals. Her areas of expertise include marine conservation and climate change, marine protected areas, global biodiversity, corals, and sharks and rays. Rebecca has worked on facilitating and managing philanthropic funder groups and grantees, strategic planning and grantmaking initiatives, and conducting learning and evaluation efforts. Recent clients include Oceankind, Oceans 5, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the Blue Nature Alliance, Rare, and The Nature Conservancy.
Before joining CEA in 2023, Rebecca worked as Senior Program Officer at the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, where she led its ocean health and conservation portfolio and served as philanthropic advisor. Rebecca also served as elected Chair of the Advisory Board of the Shark Conservation Fund and Board Member of Oceans 5 and the Global Fund for Coral Reefs. Prior to this, Rebecca worked as Senior Program Officer at World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for the Greater Mekong Program, a cross-disciplinary conservation program in Southeast Asia, and as Program Associate at WWF for the Global Freshwater Conservation Science Program.
Rebecca holds a BS in environmental science and biology from the University of Waterloo, and an MS in ecology from McGill University.
