Sea Change Investment Fund

Problem
Advocacy groups have a longstanding commitment to improving the sustainability of fisheries, but have trouble navigating the seafood supply chain and influencing seafood distribution, branding, and marketing.

Solution
CEA analyzed the barriers to sustainability in the seafood supply chain, and the potential for profit- and sustainability-driven solutions to make a difference. Confronted with an opaque supply chain and a lack of profit- and sustainability-motivated capital, CEA structured a growth equity fund using both philanthropic and private capital to invest in companies in the middle portion of the seafood supply chain.

Result
CEA launched the independent Sea Change Investment Fund in March 2005. Sea Change has structured all aspects of its operations and investments to equally prioritize financial and conservation returns. To date, the Sea Change Investment Fund has made six investments in companies at the forefront of the sustainable seafood movement. Learn more at www.seachangefund.com.
