Jamaica Maxwell is an affiliated consultant of California Environmental Associates. Since 2001, Jamaica has helped philanthropic, nonprofit, and sustainable
business clients design and grow effective and innovative organizations and programs on a range of pressing environmental issues. Jamaica has worked in variety
of sectors, and has recently supported organizational design and recruiting at client companies focused on climate change, land use, sustainable agriculture/food systems,
environmental grant-making, and marine ecosystems.
Previously, as a Senior Associate at CEA, Jamaica supported the design and launch of the Roots of Change Fund – an innovative funding collaborative focused on
building sustainable food systems and local economies in California.
When Jamaica was on staff at CEA, she supported the design and launch of the Roots of Change Fund – an innovative funding collaborative focused on building
sustainable food systems and local economies in California. She helped develop the organizational structure and led several hiring processes, including an
Executive Director search. Prior to the ROC Fund, Jamaica served as the Coordinator of the Funders for Sustainable Food Systems – a foundation working group
focused on sustainable agriculture. In addition, she has provided organizational development, analysis, and program support for an array of projects in the
marine, energy, and transportation sectors.
Jamaica has a BA in Economics from Brown University.
In her free time, Jamaica enjoys teaching Ashtanga yoga, writing creatively, hiking, and dancing the tango.
